It must be said that the contemporary ways of push-to-jouir (pousse-au-jouir) have admitted the formula of “watching them jouir.” Our time is the one of the generalized reality show. Everyone can become a star in the regime of voyeurism. During fifteen minutes of ephemeral celebrity, each one can take the place of the one who jouit. The images of the reality show refer to the deadly edge of the mirror’s stage and its relation to the superego. In every reality show there is the elimination of the other and eventually the elimination of oneself. In the end, shame is a “shame of living” that the master signifier occasionally relieves.
